Why does organic matter

Why organic matters.

“…manufacturers of organic cotton don’t cut any corners by using pesticides and insecticides in their farming process…”

Did you know that a newborn’s skin is much thinner and less oily than an adult’s? It absorbs things very easily, which means a baby is at a greater risk of pesticide-related health problems, such as allergic reactions. A lot of parents prefer to dress their newborns in fabrics which are certified toxin-free. Manufacturers of organic cotton don’t cut any corners by using pesticides and insecticides in their farming process. Instead they use safe and natural methods, such as crop rotation, hand hoeing and physical removal of weeds. This means the soil is stronger and healthier, the water supply is not contaminated and farmers have better working conditions.

“…babies are most vulnerable in their sleep because they sweat much less efficiently than us…”

Here at Little Pancakes, we appreciate that it is not realistic to dress your baby only in organic clothes all of the time. We therefore recommend that parents buy organic for items in which your newborn will spend the most time. Your baby will (hopefully) be sleeping for large parts of the day, so our range of organic sleepsuits and bodysuits reflects this vision. Babies are most vulnerable to toxins in their sleep because they sweat much less efficiently than us, so it’s desirable that these items have not been treated with any chemicals.

“…the durability of organic cotton will save you money and effort in the long run …”

The benefits of organic clothing don’t end there. Did you know that organic cotton is much stronger than its non-organic counterpart? The clothes in which your baby will spend the most time will require constant washing and drying. Organic cotton fibre maintains its amazing texture and does not start to break until the hundredth wash! We appreciate that organic items are a little bit more expensive, but the durability of organic cotton will save you money and effort in the long run.

“…just think of the environment!”

Finally, if you are not yet convinced of the benefits of organic cotton, just think of the environment! The diverse ecosystem where organic cotton is grown is not compromised by any nasty chemicals, because none are released into the air and the water supply during harvesting.
